Richard James Flanagin

Richard James Flanagin, 80 of Gresham OR, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015. He was born on February 3, 1935 in Washington, Kansas to John and Mary Flanagin. He was raised in Corbett, Oregon where his parents operated the Hardware Store across the street from Corbett High School where he attended. He graduated from Sandy Union High School in 1954 and has lived in Gresham since 1955. Richard married Wilma Jean Williams on February 10, 1955 in Gresham, Oregon. He worked for Multnomah County Road Department as a construction inspector for 36 years before his retirement in 1994. Richard was an outdoorsman - he enjoyed gardening and was an avid angler and hunter.

Richard is survived by his wife Wilma Jean Flanagin of Gresham OR; sons Richard Flanagin Jr. of Gresham OR and Ronald Flanagin (Rose) of Salem OR; daughter Jeanne Lemerande (Robert) of Bandon OR; sister Mary Louise Jensen (Earl) of Florence OR; grandchildren Melanie Lindsey, Hollie Jurkowski and Brandon Lemerande and great grandchildren Alex, Elizabeth and Cora.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and a Celebration of Richard’s Life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham, Oregon. A committal service will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Sherwood, Oregon. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made as donations to Mt. Hood Hospice.
