

He was born in the church parsonage in Cascade Locks, Oregon on June 9, 1924 to Thomas H and Georgina B Harrison, joining six brothers who have all preceded him in death. He graduated from Cascade Locks High School in June 1943.
He served in the US Army from June 1943 to January 1946 as a communication technician in the Solomon Islands.
On his return, he married Mary Margaret Funk on August 15, 1948. Through their 65 years of marriage, Dick worked for the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife as a fish culturist for 44 years. During this time, he furthered his education by attending Eastern Oregon College in La Grande, and also spent a year in Cortland, NY studying fish nutrition and disease.
Dick is survived by two children, Kathy (Bill) Blankenship of Welches, OR and Roger (Kathleen ) Harrison of Sandy, OR. He leaves behind five grandchildren, Steven Harrison, David (Liezel) Harrison, Matthew (Alaina ) Harrison, Elizabeth (Nathan) Joyner, and Margaret Harrison. His grandson, Scott Blankenship, preceded him in death.
Dick was an avid gardener, a man with a green thumb that could grow anything. We will all miss his tomatoes.
A memorial service will be held at Cascade Locks Community Church, Saturday February 15th at 2:00 pm. Friends and family are welcome to celebrate Dick’s life after the memorial. There will be a private interment at Cascade Locks Pioneer Cemetery.
