

Robert Jerome Kurth passed away on July 25th, 2016, at his home in Portland, Oregon. He was born on June 5th, 1930, in Albion, Nebraska, to his parents: Edwin and Mary (Clancy) Kurth. He attended Columbia Prep School, and graduated in 1948. Following graduation, Robert began his studies at U of P, from which he graduated in 1952 with a Bachelors in Psychology.
In September of 1952, Robert enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He served in Korea and Okinawa, and was honorably discharged in 1955. For his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal.
In 1958, Robert married the love of his life, Peri Russell. They were married until her passing in 2012. Together, they had four children.
Robert was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he treasured the time he spent with his family. He was a hardworker, and enjoyed gardening, trips to the coast, and watching sports. His children affectionately remember that he played “Taxi” for them for many years. He will always be remembered for his funny jokes, and the fact that he had a song to sing for every occasion.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son Daniel, and his siblings; Tom, Jim, and Sandra. He is survived by his daughters, Teresa (Jack), Diane (Dave), and Sue (George); his grandchildren, Melody, Alex, Kyle, Luke, Jacob, Jered, and Isaac; his daughter in law, Celeste; and his sister, Mary Lou.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 5th, 2016, at 11 am at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham. Robert will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham.
