

Shawn Olaf Johnson, 72 of Gresham, Oregon passed away May 31, 2021. Shawn was born October 30th 1948 to Joseph and Eden Johnson in Portland, Oregon.
Shawn was awarded the Prettiest Baby in Portland in 1949. Shawn was the middle child of nine. Shawn was a catholic at St. Ann’s church and was an alder boy when he was younger. Shawn went to Gresham schools and graduated from Gresham high school in 1968. He served in the Navy from 1968 to 1971 on the USS Piedmort during the Vietnam War as a seaman apprentice. Shawn graduated with an associated degree in Art from Mt. Hood community college. Shawn married Linda in 1978 and was married for nine years.
Shawn was a fine artist, craftsmen and metal fabricator working on such local projects as the fish ladders for the Bonneville Dam, the Oregon Health Science University tram, and the tracks and train at Heidi’s of Gresham. Shawn was quit an artist and had a way with a brush and created so many treasured masterpieces for his family to enjoy. Shawn started his metal working career with Rovang and retired from Thomason Metal Fab in 2014.
Shawn is survived by his brother Joe Johnson/Marie (Portland) ,sister Alahi Rickman (Portland) ,brother Michael Johnson (Portland),brother Steve Johnson/Tanya (Fairview), brother David Johnson/Sandra (Madras) , sister Marilyn Olsen/Randy (Gresham),sister Anne Martinez(Kennewick, Wa.) and brother Timothy Johnson (Portland).
Uncle Shawnie” was beloved by his numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews that he also adored. Shawn believed in being charitable and loved helping his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Doernbecher’s in his name.
