Susan Margaret LaPlante

Susan Margaret LaPlante, 80 of Gresham OR, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. She was born on December 24, 1941 in Omaha, Nebraska to Vernon “Bud” and Druscilla Light. She was a 1959 graduate of Gresham High School and attended Marylhurst University and Mt. Hood Community College. Susan married Norman Ronald LaPlante on December 12, 1959 in Gresham, Oregon. As an Army wife, Susan traveled to many places around the world.

Susan loved her family and was always ready to give what was needed. She spent many active years with Sleigh Bells non-profit and crocheted hundreds of hats for the homeless. She was an animal lover and protector, as well as an avid gardener. Susan performed many administrative jobs over the years, but took the most pride in being the executive administrator for the CSO and being office manager at her daughter’s medical practice. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church since 1972.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband Norman and granddaughter Ashley. She is survived by sons Ronald LaPlante (Christina) of Spokane Valley WA, Michael LaPlante (Patty) of Gresham OR and Paul LaPlante (Cheryl) of Tygh Valley OR; daughter Druanne LaPlante of Gresham OR; grandchildren Catherine, Andrew, Aaron, Melissa, Timothy, Benjamin, Esther, Emily Elizabeth, Lisa and Molly and great grandchildren Ashley, Amelia, Tembra, Justin, Landon, Wesley and Michael.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Susan at 11:00am on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at St. Henry Catholic Church, 346 NW First in Gresham, Oregon. Contributions may be made as donations to the Oregon Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon.
