

Virginia Juanita Cravens McAllister died on January 12, 2012 in Clackamas, Oregon at the age of 79. Virginia was born on January 30, 1932 in Clay, Kentucky to Johnson Lee and Edith Ethel (Philips) Cravens.
Virginia went to Lentz Grade School and Franklin High School. She married Jack McAllister in 1947 in Vancouver, Washington and they were blessed with four children, Jack, Kathryn, Kevin and Tammy.
Virginia helped pioneer the adult foster care program in Oregon. She was the owner of an adult foster care home. Prior to this she was a visiting nurse for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Virginia volunteered for 16 years at Legacy Mt. Hood Medical Center in Gresham, Oregon. She enjoyed getting together with the girls from “The Hood”, which were her fellow Mt. Hood Medical Center volunteers. She was a long time Portland area resident. She had lived in Gresham, Oregon since the mid 1980’s.
Hobbies included playing cribbage and going to the movies. She was also an avid reader and loved her cat Simba.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home located at 520 W. Powell Blvd. in Gresham, Oregon. Viewing will be on Wednesday, January 18th from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include her two sons, Jack E. and his wife Diane McAllister, of Eagle River, Alaska, Kevin J. and his wife Becky McAllister, of Brush Prairie, WA., two daughters, Kathryn McAllister, of Welches, OR., Tammy and her husband Steve Voelker, of Clackamas, OR., 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
