

East Portland resident Wanda Maxine Baker passed away on November 13, 2010. She was 89. Visitation will be Friday, November 19 from 9 to 5 and Saturday, November 20 from 9 to 4 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 11 AM on Monday, November 22 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
Wanda was born April 21, 1921 in Prairie Creek Township, Indiana to Clarence Herman and Laura Ethel (Ellis) Stufflebean. She graduated from high school and attended business school for a while. Wanda married Robert Baker in 1959 and they moved to the Portland area in 1965. Wanda worked for Laidlaw as a school bus driver for the Portland School District. She later worked for Trimet for several years. After retireing from Trimet, she went on to work at the Expo Center parking lot for 25 years.
Wanda was a member of the Family Worship Center Church for nearly 30 years. She was involved in Women’s Bible Study and Prayer Group. She loved travelling, especially by train. She travelled all over the United States and took a trip to Europe where she stayed in Germany for one month. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband; and daughters Ethel Elizabeth Wall and Linda Sue Baker. She is survived by her son, Alan Pumphrey of Gladstone, Oregon; daughters, Sandra Yarbour of Portland, Oregon; Patricia Vongsoury of Portland, Oregon; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
