

Mrs. Cain was born in Hampton, GA daughter of the late Frank A. Mitcham and R. Byrd Mitcham. Mrs. Cain graduated from Hampton High School in 1941 and graduated from Southern Business College. Mrs. Cain was preceded in death by her husband Ben R. Cain and her grandson Cain Brown. Following the death of her husband in 1974, Mrs. Cain was a partner in Cain’s Furniture Store and Suburban LP Gas Company in Griffin. Mrs. Cain was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and taught in the children’s Sunday School Department for over 50 years and was active in the WMU.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Betsy & Harold Jones and Bonnie & Steve Brown; grandchildren and spouses, Julie and Bart Beasley, Jamie and Jeff McLean, Amy and Mike Jones, and Kim and Ben Brown; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Avery McLean, Madison and Janie Jones, Gracie Chisholm, Nicholas and Taylor Brown and a sister, Frances Ann Stell and numerous nieces and nephews, and special caregivers, Teasa Crawford, Mary Berry, Joyce Cleveland and Marion Howard.
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty M. Cain will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Griffin First Baptist Church. Dr. Bill Hardee will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, it was Mrs. Cain’s desire to have donations made in her memory to Stepping Stones Educational Therapy Center, 141 Futral Rd., Griffin, GA 30224.
