

Mrs. Sawyer was born April 23, 1917. She was a member of the Griffin First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta for 30 years. Mrs. Sawyer worked with the Girl Scouts in Atlanta for 17 years, the P.T.A., an active Bridge player and a Pink Lady for the Spalding Regional Hospital for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Virgil Williams and Tommie Nutt Williams; husband, Tom Sawyer; son, Tom Sawyer, Jr.; granddaughter, Susan Beckworth; 3 sisters, Mildred W. Counsel, Catherine W. Robinson, Marjorie W. Veal and brother, Thomas N. Williams.
Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law, Kay Beckworth & Jimmy Adams of Senoia; son & daughter-in-law, Robert Thomas “Bob” & Kathy Sawyer of Peachtree City; grandchildren, Brian & Melissa Beckworth of Newnan, Sharon & Paul Schwartz of Marietta, Kimberly & Todd Olson of Athens, Michelle & Kenny Hamner of Peachtree City; great-grandchildren, Ariel, Hunter & Riley Beckworth; Gavin & Ethan Olson, Owen & Reid Hamner; sister-in-law, Ruth Williams of Williamson and several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Billie W. Sawyer will be held Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Griffin First Baptist Church. Rev. Brian McCartney will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Griffin First Baptist Church, 106 W. Taylor St., Griffin, GA 30223 in memory of Mrs. Sawyer.
