
Mr. Shivers was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII in the 5th Army, 34th Division, 133rd Battalion, Company F and was awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded in Italy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Henry Shivers and Biddie Green Shivers and wife, Clarissa Carden Shivers.
Survivors include his only child, Michael Shivers of Williamson and sister, Helen Brides of Pike County. Nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Rev. John Nance will officiate. Friends may visit the family 1 hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Oak Hill Building Fund or Mission Fund, 100 Lakeside Rd, Williamson, GA 30292 in memory of Mr. Shivers.
