Mrs. Georgia Mae Hurst

Mrs. Hurst was born February 5, 1922 in Tennessee daughter of the late John Elza Sweat and the late Hettie Avery Ray Sweat. She was a member of Oak Park Church in Jonesboro. She stood alongside of her husband who founded and pastored several churches in the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ. She was known as the “Queen” of the Hurst family along with her kind, loving, Christian example. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Samuel Hurst; daughter, Deborah Ann Hurst and grandson, Barry Hicks, Jr.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Ray and Glenda Stewart, Ronald and Sandy Hurst, Phillip and Pat Hurst, Barry and Gloria Fay Hicks, Joe and Sue Hurst, Gayla Hurst, David and Esther Hurst, Matthew and Joy Roe, Jan Hurst, Dan and Frankie Hurst, Wayne and Paige Hurst, Darrell and Crystal Floyd and Jason and Bethany Jones; 27 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and sister, Dorothy Fay Sweat.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Park Church, Hwy. 138, Jonesboro. Rev. David Scott will officiate. A private graveside service will be held in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 6 – 9 p.m. at Oak Park Church.

The family has requested that all floral remembrances be sent directly to Oak Park Church, Hwy. 138, Jonesboro.
