Mr. John Michael O'Connor

Mr. O’Connor was born May 28, 1959 in Fayetteville, N.C. He worked at the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller for 29 years and was a member of the Georgia Piedmont Region Canine Search & Rescue Team. He was preceded in death of by his parents, Cornelius John & Arlene Greenberg O’Connor and brother, Neil O’Connor.

Survivors include his wife, Diane O’Connor of Griffin; children, Whitney O’Connor of Griffin, John Michael II & Jessica O’Connor of griffin; grandson, John Michael O’Connor, III; brother & sister-in-law, David & Deb O’Connor of North Augusta, S.C.; niece & nephew, Amber & John Bannister of North Augusta, S.C. and nephew Corey O’Connor also of North Augusta, S.C.

A private family burial was held. A gathering to celebrate the life of Mike was held Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 4 – 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their love and appreciation to the staff of Brightmoor Hospice for the love and caring during Mike’s last days.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Georgia Piedmont Region K-9 Search & Rescue, 655 Old Jackson Rd., McDonough, GA 30252 in memory of Mike.
