Margie G. Smith

Mrs. Smith was born on June 15, 1924 in Griffin to the late Howard Gossett, Sr. and the late Mary Lou Norris Gossett. She was a member of Sunnyside United Methodist Church. She retired as Post Master at Sunnyside. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Mercer, Smith, Sr.; brothers, Troy Gossett, William Gossett, Fred Gossett and Lamar Gossett.

Survivors include her children, LouAnne and husband Gerald Collier, Russell M. Smith, Jr. and wife Kathy, Laura Lea and her husband Steve Rummage; brothers, Frank Gossett, Howard and his wife Betty Gossett; sister, Betty and her husband Royce Sangster; grandchildren, Heather and Mike Chandler, Matthew and Emily Hightower and Angela and Jeff Nelson, Jay & Jane Collier, Bryan & Gail Collier, Keith Collier & Michael Collier, Abe and Kathy Rummage; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Rev. Argin Floyd will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
