

Mary was born in Sycamore, Georgia in 1932 and raised on the family farm with four siblings in the Bethel Community of southeast Turner County, GA. She married her high school sweetheart and neighbor, Warren, in 1954 in Sycamore, GA. Mary graduated from Jacksonville Business College and started her career as a legal secretary while her husband Warren was in the Navy, and later as a secretary in Athens, GA, while Warren attended the University of Georgia. After moving to Griffin in 1965, she worked as a secretary for the First United Methodist Church, Jackson Road Elementary School and the Georgia Experiment Station where she retired in 1990. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Mr. Warren L. Story, Jr., her parents, Jesse Franklin Hasty and Ruby Christian Hasty and brothers and sisters, Raymond Hasty, Christine Hasty Zorn, Georgia Hasty West and twin brother, Marvin Hasty. Mary was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She will be missed dearly.
Mrs. Story was a resident of Griffin, GA for 47 years and is survived by her four sons & daughters-in-law, Warren, III & Kim Story of Alpharetta, GA, Franklin & Leigh Ann Story of Zebulon, GA, Brent Story of Concord, GA and Matthew Story of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Jesse, Meghan, Bethany and Jack Story as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Hasty Story will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Griffin First United Methodist Church. Rev. Kevin Lobello will officiate. Following the service Mrs. Story will be taken to the Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn, GA where the family will receive friends from 3:30 – 4:00 p.m. Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m. at the Prospect Methodist Cemetery in Sycamore, GA. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home.
