Mrs. Sara Mercer Miller

Mrs. Miller was born March 19, 1929, daughter of the late John Pinckney Mercer and the late Sara Burke Mercer. She was a member of the Griffin First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Miller graduated from Middle Georgia Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. She moved to Griffin in 1950 to work at Strickland and for many years she was head of the Pediatric Department. Mrs. Miller was a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and Director of Nurses having worked at Brightmoor Nursing Center, Heritage Inn and the Living Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Osgood Miller.

Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law, Drew & Susan Miller of Griffin; grandson & his wife, Stuart & Jaime Miller of Young Harris, GA; granddaughter, Claire Mercer Miller of Columbia, S.C.; nephews, Bobby Pierson, Merrell Pierson, John Mercer; niece, Becky Nichols; special cousin, Patsy and caretaker, Geisha Price.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sara Mercer Miller will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Dr. Medwin Roach and Mr. J.W. Little will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Memorial Garden Fund, Griffin First United Methodist Church, 1401 Maple Dr., Griffin, GA 30224 in memory of Mrs. Miller.
