Albert Phillip Wagner Jr.

Albert P. Wagner Jr. passed away on May 27, 2015 at St. John Hospital in Detroit at age 89. He was born on June 12, 1925, son of Albert and Edith (nee Gannon) Wagner. Albert married Elizabeth M. (Betty) Millenbach on December 28, 1957 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Detroit. They shared 57+ wonderful years of marriage together. Al was an avid downhill skier, skiing all over the United States and Canada. He was a longtime member of the Otsego Ski Club in Gaylord, MI. Al was a devout Catholic belonging to St. Clare of Montefalco Church in Grosse Pointe Park, and St. Mary Star of the Sea Church on Longboat Key, Florida. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. To say Al was a dedicated family man would be an understatement. Family and faith were central to his life. Al leaves behind his loving wife Betty, daughter Liz Rader (Bob), and sons Al (Nancy), Doug, and Bob. He adored his grandchildren Lindsay and Bob Rader, Al, Ryan, and Ellie Wagner. He will be missed by his sister Margaret Smith, and brother Dr. John Wagner. He was predeceased by his brother Leo Wagner. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A scripture service will be recited at 7:00 PM. Mr. Wagner will lie in state on Monday from 10:30 AM until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 AM at St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church, 1401 Whittier, Grosse Pointe Park. The Reverend Andrew Kowalczyk will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchins, 1820 Mt. Elliott, Detroit, MI 48207.
