Alice Cook Dalligan

Alice C. Dalligan passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the age of 85. She was a resident of the Grosse Pointe area for 43 years. Alice graduated from Wayne States University in 1945 with a Bachelor of Science. She later obtained a Master Degree at University of Michigan in history and also library science. For the next 39 years she worked for the Detroit Public Library as Chief Librarian and archivist. She looked over the Burton Historical Collection and was instrumental in getting Ernie Harwell's collection to the Detroit Public Library. Alice leaves behind her husband Carl of 49 years and her loving cousins Jane Cook and Susan Pyle. Alice was predeceased by her parents Floyd and Grace Cook. Visitation Tuesday 3-9 pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Rd, Grosse Pointe Woods. Funeral service Wednesday 10:00 am at Grosse Pointe Woods Presbyterian Church, 19950 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods. Interment will be private in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit. Memorial contributions may be givev to the Grosse Pointe Woods Presbyterian Church, 19950 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236.
