Andrew Courney

Andrew Courney passed away on April 4, 2012 at St. John Hospital in Detroit. He was born on May 6, 1960 in San Francisco; son of Howard and Myrna (nee Piaz) Courney. Andrew served our country proudly in the United States Navy attaining the rank E4. He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, boating and fishing with his family. He was a talented carpenter who enjoyed working with his hands. Andrew fixed up many cars throughout the years. He was a "Chevy" man always tinkering with his Z28 Camaros. Mr. Courney's biggest love in life was his family. He married Janette Krist on December 28, 1988 in Pleasanton, California. They were blessed with three sons; Andrew, Anthony, and Alexander. He is survived by his parents Howard (Wambui) and Myrna Hayter (Ivan); and siblings Howie (Connie), Debbie Paveo (Earl), and Carla Enea (Robert). He is survived by his father in-law Jerry Krist; mother in-law Teresa Ryan; and brother in-law of Joseph Krist. Visitation Thursday 1:00 until 9:00 pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. Instate Friday 9:30 am until time of Mass 10:00 am at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 23401 Jefferson Avenue, St. Clair Shores. Fr. James Commyn to officiate. Interment to be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
