Barbara Ann Zaliwski, age 83, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2023. Beloved wife of Robert. Cherished mother to Deborah (Craig) Serafino, Robert (Shannon), Paul (Bonnie), Pamela (Michael) Campbell and Derek (Jennifer). Adored grandmother to Craig, Anthony, Lori, Amanda, Jessica, Danielle, John, Amber, Rebecca, Nolan, Quinn, Connor, Claire, and Griffin. Dear great-grandmother to Gavin, Ashlin, Kinley, Hadley, Elam, Zigmund, Averie, Derek, and Gage. Loving sister to Melba (Jack), Reba, the late Denver, and the late Clarice. Sister-in-law to Gerald (Geraldine). Survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Barbara was born on July 9, 1940 in Carrollton, Georgia to the late James Dumer McCune and the late Gladys Baxter McCarty. Later in life, she met her brave soldier and protector; her dear husband - Robert. In their 52 years of marriage, Barbara and Bob raised five beautiful children and she enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren (14) and great grandchildren (9).
Barbara loved to live her life as an adventure. She and Bob traveled to Hawaii numerous times before becoming Florida snowbirds. She enjoyed a good trivia game, bingo, and stain glass crafting. Barbara was an avid reader and had a passion for gardening.
She will be dearly missed.
Visitation for Barbara will be on Thursday August 24th, 2023 from 1 PM until 8 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. A funeral Mass will be on Friday August 25th, 2023 at 10 AM, instate at 9:30 AM, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack Ave, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080. The Mass will be available to view via Livestream at sjascs.org.
Barbara will be laid to heavenly rest with her husband Bob at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, MI.
