Betty Jean Bayer

Betty Jean Bayer passed away on May 30, 2018 at Church of Christ Care Center in Clinton Twp. She was 86. She was born on March 1, 1932 in Detroit; daughter of Leon and Marguerite (nee Henzler) VerHaeghe. Betty Jean met Bill Bayer while she was in the church choir at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. They married on April 19, 1952 at St. Clare of Montefalco Church in Grosse Pointe Park. They enjoyed 63 wonderful years of marriage until Bills death in 2015. Betty Jean was a very sweet, kind, and patient woman who will be remembered for her sense of humor and patience. She volunteered at Cottage Hospital in the Nuclear Medicine Department. She taught Catechism at St. Angela Church. Mrs. Bayer enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in Kingsville, Ontario. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 3:00 pm until the time of her funeral at 7:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Father Tony Sulkowski will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at www.americanheart.org
