Cathy Marie Carlone, born on January 15, 1959, passed away on November 1, 2025, at the age of 66. She was a resident of St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Born to parents William and Lois Manion, and raised on the east side of Detroit, Cathy spent her entire life in the city she called home. She was known for her adventurous and youthful spirit; from urban exploring to hitchhiking, she loved the thrill of discovery and the stories that came from it.
As a gifted storyteller, Cathy had a way of making everything feel magical. Whether she was recounting an adventure, a family mishap, or a spooky tale that would have made her favorite author, Stephen King, proud, she could captivate anyone in the room. She was mischievous and funny, always quick with a story or a joke, and never afraid to bend the rules for the sake of a good time.
Cathy’s creativity extended into everything she did. She could pick up a recipe by taste alone and never needed a cookbook to make something delicious. She made every holiday feel special by cultivating an atmosphere that created a sense of childlike wonder.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Cathy poured her energy and spirit into her family. She made sure everyone felt loved, included, and safe: animals, people, even strangers. Her home was a place of warmth and acceptance; she took everyone in and made sure there was always room for one more at the table.
She never judged anyone and was known for making sure people got home safely, no matter the circumstance. That sense of care extended to her community; she volunteered for fundraisers and supported causes close to her heart, especially through St. Vincent de Paul.
Cathy was also deeply faithful. Her faith in God never wavered, and she found peace in prayer, the rosary, and attending church. Her faith guided her through every chapter of life and inspired her family to find strength in their own beliefs. She left behind more than just memories; she left lessons. She taught those around her how to be kind, how to find joy, and how to be a good mom. Her love of life, laughter, and adventure will continue to live on through them.
Cathy will be remembered as a woman who made the ordinary extraordinary: a storyteller, a nurturer, and a believer in the magic of the world around her.
Cathy is survived by her loving children, Ronald Carlone, Aimee Carlone, Sarah (Daniel) Carlone-Shank, Ashley (Michael) Mulawa, and John Mast; cherished grandchildren, Robert Doherty, Angelina Carlone, Landon Cavataio, Bradley Boucher, Willow Downey, Michael Carlone, Angelo Carlone, Oliver Mulawa, Brayden Mulawa, and Lillian Safronenko; loving siblings, the late Walter Manion, William Manion, Diane Manion, and Sally (George) Nichols
