

Bud Keech of Detroit, Michigan passed on September 10, 2009 at home under the loving care of family and with the assistance of Hospice of Michigan, at the age of 83. Bud was born in Decorah, Iowa May 2, 1926. He moved with his parents to Detroit at the age of 5. Bud retired from the Detroit Police Department in 1986 as a Detective Sergeant after 34 years of service. Bud and his wife Elaine were extremely active in various Masonic Organizations. Bud was initiated into Tuebor Lodge #578 and is a Past Master and Life Member of Berkley Lodge # 536 and a member of Jefferson Lodge #553; Shores Chapter #69 Royal Arch Masons; Monroe Council Royal and Select Masons; Mt. Clemens Commandry; Moslem Shrine Temple of Detroit, where he was very active on the Crippled Children Committee sponsoring over 500 children to the Shriner's Hospital; Royal Order of the Jesters; Past Sovereign Prince, Carson Council-Princes of Jerusalem Scottish Rite Bodies of Detroit. Bud was honored with the conferring of the 33ï‚° in 1986; St. Clement Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine. He was also a Past Patron and Life Member of Jefferson Chapter #489, Order of the Eastern Star. Bud was a veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and The Sons of Norway and was a Kentucky Colonel. Bud will be greatly missed by his Fraternal Brothers, Sisters and friends. Bud is survived by his wife of 60 years Elaine (Bergum), his children Cathryn and Michael Morse of Somerset Township, Michigan, daughter Cynthia and son Steven of Detroit. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Gladys Keech, and his only sister and her husband Donna and Jack Cunningham. Bud was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Grosse Pointe. The family wishes to extend their extreme gratitude to the Congregation for their support and assistance. Memorial donations may be made to the 32ï‚° Masonic Learning Center for Children in Michigan; 907 Monroe Street, Dearborn, MI 48124-2309 and St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 375 Lothrop, Grosse Pointe Farms, 48236. The family will receive friends from 3:00-8:00 pm Saturday and Sunday at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. Memorial services will be Sunday at 6:00 pm under auspices of Jefferson Chapter #489, Order of the Eastern Star; followed by a Masonic Memorial under the direction of Worshipful Brother Fred Kaiser. Mr. Keech will lie instate at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 375 Lothrop at Chalfonte, Grosse Pointe Farms from 10:00 am Monday until time of funeral at 11:00 am. Pastor Frederick Harms will officiate. Military honors conducted by the American Legion will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Detroit.
