
Coleman Served proudly in the United States Army. He retired from Grosse Pointe North High School as a custodian 30 years ago. He loved traveling with Frankenmuth, Macinaw Island and Tennessee being some of his favorite destinations. He loved doing puzzles and reading. He kept up with politics and enjoyed watching baseball. Mr. New loved animals especially dogs. He will be remembered for his intelligence and loving nature. His biggest love in life was his family.
He leaves behind his loving wife Kathleen. He was proud of his daughter Karen (the late Gary) Wolvin, and his son Charles (Cindy) New. He adored his granddaughter Melissa McMaster (Ken) and grandson Trevor Wolvin (Jess); and great-grandchildren Ella and Adin. He will be missed by his sister Mary Papp (George). He was a dear friend of Donna, Jeff, Ryan, and Troy Vanneste and good friend and caregiver Julie Cichoracki and her family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 5:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Mr. New will lie instate on Monday at 9:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 am at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 22851 Lexington Ave., Eastpointe. Mr. New will be entombed at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Twp.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. New’s memory to St. Basil Church.
