

Dave grew up in Detroit and graduated from Cooley High School, Henry Ford CC, Wayne State U & attended New York U. Starting in high school he was involved with tech support for plays, where he began his lifelong love of theater and film. David loved old movies and was very knowledgeable on the subject. At the time of his death, his film and theater library had grown to over 7000 books as well as many signed movie posters. Dave worked at the Redford Theater and in bookstores at Wayne State University before moving to NYC where he worked at the Drama Book Shop and Cinemabilia Bookstore. Here he met dozens of people involved with the film business including Steven Speilberg, Diane Keaton, Anthony Quinn, and Rita Moreno to name a few. Dave was a film editor on the film “Girl Groups” and several independent movies. Dave began hosting his epic annual Academy Awards in 1975 at his Detroit apartment. He continued the tradition when he moved to NYC and then when he returned to Detroit in 1993. Dave hosted 47 years of annual Academy Awards Parties starting in 1975.
David was proceeded in death by his parents, Wayne and Eunice Hill, brother, Roger, and Aunt Lois.
Dave survived by his amazing husband of 30 years, Julio Efrain Dominguez, brother Richard Hill (Elizabeth), niece Melissa Benson (Josh), nephew Jason Hill (Rebecca) great nieces Ellie and Natalie Benson and great nephews Fen David and Ira Hill. Also surviving him are his mother-in-law Elizabeth Dominguez, brother-in-law Diego (Lindsey), and brother-in-law Daniel and niece Loren Dominguez as well as longtime friend Ken Shereda.
A memorial gathering for David will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236.
