Donald A. Stieber

Donald A. Stieber passed away July 14, 2014 at age 87. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (nee McDonald). The father of Donald A., Jr. "Chip" (Susan), Jeffrey (Karen), Mark (Kathy), Tami Caren (Dennis), Scot (Sally), and Brad. Grandfather of April Schafer, Jamie Schafer, Kelsey, Courtney, Kaitlin, Marisa, and James Stieber. Step-father of Deborah Holmes, James Holmes, Karin Nechvatal (Stephen), and Linda Posavetz (Duane). Step-grandfather of Jason Bourque (Valerie), Rachael Holmes, and Kelly Posavetz. Also survived by two great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Harold and Eugene. Mr. Stieber was born in Detroit, Michigan to Bruno and Lillian (nee Grabowski) Stieber. He graduated from Denby High School in 1945. He served in the Naval Air Corp during World War II. He was stationed in Guam. Following his military service, Mr. Stieber joined his father in the real estate business. He eventually took over the firm and spent 66 years in the business. Two of his sons joined him in the business. Mr. Stieber was active in his community. He served as president of the Ushers Club at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church and in the same capacity for the Grosse Pointe Crisis Club. Mr. Stieber was an avid outdoorsman and a sportsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as tennis and golf. He was a long time Detroit Lions seasons ticket holder. His sons now carry on the tradition. He was very proud of his family and enjoyed the time he spent with them. Visitation Wednesday 11:30 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 467 Fairford at Morningside Dr., Grosse Pointe Woods, until time of Mass 12 Noon. Memorial contributions to Grosse Pointe Crisis Club preferred.
