

Dorothy Heisel passed away on Sunday, October 30 with her family at her side at My Doctor's Inn. She was born in Cincinnati on February 10, 1920 and was the daughter of William and Antoinette Heisel. Dorothy moved to Detroit with her parents at an early age. Dorothy was a devout Catholic and her faith was an integral part of her life. She also was a sports fan, but also quite the athlete herself. Dorothy was a member of the Grosse Pointe Ski Club, played golf and enjoyed swimming. She liked to shop and had the gift of speech and was able to start up conversations with anyone she encountered. Dorothy was a night owl, who enjoyed having company or sipping a glass of wine. During different times of her life she shared her time and talents with others: she was once a Republican precinct delegate and volunteered at both Providence Hospital and the D.I.A. Dorothy was instrumental in helping her sister, Rita, by providing selflessly of her time to Rita and her six children due to the early death of Rita's husband. Dorothy retired as an executive secretary at Texaco in 1982 after forty years of service. Miss Heisel is survived by her brother, Dr. William Heisel (Pat Ann) and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her sisters, Marjorie Poss and Rita Sloan, her nephew Paul Sloan, and her parents William and Antoinette Heisel Visitation for Dorothy will take place on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM. Dorothy will lie in state on Friday from 9:30 AM until time of the funeral Mass, 10:00 AM at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 21201 Thirteen Mile, St. Clair Shores. The interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
