

Milner, E. Ronald age 85. December 17, 2014. Of Grosse Pointe Park. He was born on May 13, 1929 in Michigan to Earl R. and Mary Lyons Milner. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lucy Carmichael Milner of 41 years and his sister Jeanne Pierrong of Bradenton, Florida. For 50 years Mr. Milner was president of Milner Hotels, Inc., founded in 1918. In the 1940s this was the largest hotel chain in the world. He was a lifelong Detroiter remaining in downtown Detroit as other businesses left the city. Mr. Milner was a Korean War veteran and a graduate of the Cornell University Hotel School. He was a member of the WPO Organization, Phi Beta Theta Fraternity, Detroit Athletic Club, Country Club of Detroit, Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, Grosse Point Hunt Club, and the Scarab Club. Mr. Milner was on the original ad hoc committee of the restoration of Orchestra Hall. Mr. Milner was a lifelong boater. His main passion in life was the family hotel business.
