Mr. K was my 6th grade teacher back in 1966 when my family first moved to the area. I remember being very nervous to start in a new school but Mr. K not only welcomed me that first day, but looked after me that whole year. He recognized my potential and encouraged me to grow.HE gave me confidence. I remember looking up to him so much and to this day, 50 years later, I still thought about him frequently and wondered about his life. I am sorry to hear of his passing in this way, but he was someone special who influenced this one little boy to aspire to greatness. God bless you Mr. Koenigbauer.

He was my 6th grade teacherit has been fun seeing us 52+year "kids" send our pics of us w him from 6th grade camp. Great memories. A life well lived I'm guessing. I enjoyed his class and remember his smile. So very sorry for your families loss.

What a special guy he was and he will be missed! I know that he and my husband had a special friendship and I appreciated the kindness Jim showed when my husband died. Now the two of them can continue that friendship in Heaven. May they rest in Peace. With much love and comfort to all the family.

I have known Jim from many years ago at St. Joe's High School, class of 1953. We have all gone our separate ways since then, but as I recall, Jim was always a very friendly person with a very big smile on his face. Always pleasant to be around. You are in my prayers. Rest in Peace Jim.

Saddened to learn of Jim's passing. He was my next door neighbor 
growing up on Riad. Ave. in the 40's and 50's. I am awed by the many tributes on Facebook written about Jim from the men that Jim mentored as coach when they were boys. What a positive role model he was for them. My condolences to his wife, children and grandchildren and to his siblings Rick, Karen, Fred and Jerry. Rest in Peace Jim.

Mr. K. was my computer teacher in middle school. He was always kind and engaging. I enjoyed learning in his class and running into him in the halls. A great man and teacher. May God bless Mr. K. and his entire family.

My family's deepest sympathy to the family of our dear Mr. K. In 1969 he was my 6 th grade teacher. I am sure that whomever was blessed to have had him, will never forget him. He made each child feel special. We were from a family of 6 children, 5 of us were lucky to be chosen in his class. I had the job of cleaning and organizing his desk. He made me feel special. Such a wonderful man and teacher!

Our family got to know Jim in the past couple of years after we came to Dorsey's on Glen Lake. Most days Jim could be spotted riding around the park on his bike, and he often stopped to have a conversation or share a joke. We will miss his sense of humor and his genuine interest in people. The world has lost a kind and gentle man. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

 Great guy, great teacher! Still fondly remember him for his affinity for U of M. Im 48 now and still remember his classroom...

There was always a big tight hug from Jim, every time our families got together. Jim adored his Grandaughters Yvonne and Samantha. He just beamed when he was near those girls!!! Knew Jim when he worked at Chrysler about 1955. Always a pleasure to be around. I know he will be missed by all.

My prayers and thoughts go out to your whole family. Mr. Koenigbauer was a great teacher! I had him for computers/typing class in 6th & 7th grade at Wolfe Middle School. I'll never forget those cool typing pictures he had for extra credit. =) He was very smart and very aware of his students. May he rest in peace.

He was one of my favorite teachers at Wolfe Middle School. I took his computer class during 7th grade ('88-'89 school year). He was a nice and patient man. My deepest condolences to the family.

My prayers and condolences go out to the entire Koenigbauer family at the loss of a wonderful man. Jim was my coach, mentor, and friend. He was passionate and sincere in his words and lived with the same carrying and love for all those he called friends and family. I have known him for over 50 years and was privileged to have lunch again with him two months ago where we shared old stories and family values and events. He told me how he finally settled on teaching as a career and loved to coach. He was truly a people person with compassion for others and you could always hear in his voice and see in his eyes his sincerity, He would be available to always listen to be willing to offer his thoughts and advise. He loved the outdoors and sports and with family and mutual friends we never lacked a subject to talk about. He was a positive influence in my life and I know to many others. He loved his family and was so proud of all of you. I am in the Upper Peninsula for some commitments that I have made and where I know he shared many snowmobile stories with me. I am truly sorry that I cannot be there at this time but I want you to know that I will be there in spirit and thoughts.
May he rest in peace and Jim will be forever in my heart.

It was my honor and pleasure to have known Jim Koenigbauer. I met Jim when I first worked with his daughter Lynn and you immediately knew what kind of father and parent he was by the great pride he took in her many talents and accomplishments. He did not want to talk about himself - just Lynn. He always had a smile that could fill a room and although I had not seen Jim in recent years, from what I have heard his demeanor never changed. His love of his family and the great outdoors never wavered. I know he will be missed by all who knew him and my thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. Rest in peace.
