Edward J. Pavlovich, age 81, died peacefully on February 11, 2017 at The Rivers in Grosse Pointe Woods. Ed, known simply as "Unc" to many, was unable to recover from complications stemming from heart surgery. Ed had three passions in life...his family, the Catholic Church and Ford Motor Co. As a child he came to St. Clair Shores from Beaverdale, PA with his mother and brother. After graduating Lakeview High School, he went on to receive his engineering degree from Lawrence Technological Institute while completing an apprenticeship in the tool and die trade. He worked for a brief period with local auto supply firms before going to Chrysler and then, ultimately, his beloved Ford Motor Company for 30+ years. Ed was devoted to this faith. While a life-long parishioner at St. Isaac Jogues Church in St. Clair Shores, he could also be seen assisting with funeral masses at St. Lucy and praying at St. Joan of Arc. He participated in prayer groups at Our Lady Star of the Sea and St. Paul on the Lake. Several of the people he prayed with became close friends. Ed will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ed is survived by his two nephews and niece, Edward (Sharon) and John (Kim) Pavlovich and Connie LaPrairie (Paul) who thought of him as a second father; a grand nephew, Reece Pavlovich; grandnieces, Brynne, Calle and Taylor; his cousin, who he thought of as a brother, Ralph Bruette (Alice) his sister-in-law, Myrna and long-time, dear friend, Otalai Krajcovic. He was an incredibly devoted son, to his late mother, Helen. He was predeceased by his brother and best friend, Ronald and his aunt Anna Bruette (Eli). The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Wednesday evening. His body will lie instate at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 21120 Madison, St. Clair Shores from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until mass begins at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Darrell Roman will officiate. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials be directed to the Fr. Solanus Casey Guild, 1780 Mt. Elliott, Detroit 48207.
