Eleanor D. Barker

Eleanor Dahlen (cookie) Barker, age 90, passed away 9-7-25, grew up in Grosse Pointe, lived in Saint Clair Shores most recently. Beloved mother of Robert (Pamela) Barker, Desiree Barker, Rankin Barker(deceased). The last of the four Dahlen Children; Joanne, Birgit, and Pat. Loved all her nephews and nieces, loved being called Aunt Cookie by all of the generations, especially the little ones. Proud of being a Swede. Loved her Michigan State Spartans; men’s basketball and football. Looked forward to game day when she could wear her colors. Always reflecting on what a good life she had and all of the memories; her cat Murray, playing tennis, paddle tennis, Vasa Country Club, Jenny Lind club, Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, GP Theatre with the girls, her church Saint James Lutheran, MOPS volunteer. Some of her extracurricular activities included cooking, planting her gardens every year, a passion for sports; changing the lineups for all Detroit sports team, patiently waiting for March Madness, Wimbledon, the Australian and US Open. Super fan of Rafa Nadal most recently Carlos Alcaraz. She loved the men’s tennis matches. Christmas was her special time. Still getting a live tree and having it decorated with lights and high reaching bulbs so her cat wouldn’t play with them and her angel.

A visitation for Eleanor will be held Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan 48236, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
