

Ellen Colgan passed away after a long illness at her home in Stanwood, Michigan with her family by her side. She was born in New York, the daughter of John and Catherine Modelski. Ellen married William Colgan in 1961 and enjoyed many happy times until his death in 2006.Ellen enjoyed hosting family dinners at her home and cooking special meals for family events and celebrations. She enjoyed gardening and golf. Ellen was a devout Catholic, serving as a lector at her churches, St. Michael in Remus, Michigan and St. Isaac Jogues in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. She also trained aspiring lectors in the skill. Ellen taught at St. Isaac Jogues for twenty years, retiring in 2001. She enjoyed doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ellen is survived by her sons Glenn (Fiona), and Kevin Colgan, her grandchildren Mark, Terri, Catherine, Michelle, Brendan and Shannon, her great-grandchidren Lakala, Christopher, Logan, Layla, and Kylie. Her sister Judi McKenney (Tom) also survives her. Ellen is predeceased by her husband William, and her son Keith. Visitation will take place on Friday 2-9 pm with a Rosary 7 pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. In state Saturday 9:30 am until time of Mass 10 am at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 21120 Madison, St. Clair Shores. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to any hospice.
