Mataway, Ernest H. Age 80 a resident of Ft. Pierce, FL, Providence, RI and formerly Warren, MI, died Tuesday September 18th, 2012 at Treasure Coast Hospice Ft. Pierce Fla. Mr. Mataway owned and operated Mataway Service in Detroit for 50 years and other small businesses in the Detroit Metro area. His hobbies included golf, baseball, playing cards and going to the casinos. " When Ernie walked into a room his presence was known, he was a "Big Tease" "as quoted by his sister Joan. Beloved husband of Marie Duesing-Mataway and the late Elizabeth Mataway, loving father of Michael(Susan), Robert, Linda(Robert)Novak, Donna Talley, Thomas(Darlene), Deanna Mulrenin, James and step-son Gregory Gifford. Proud grandfather of 8 granddaughters Melissa Hannah, Traci Miller, Emilee Mataway, Miranda Mataway, Breanna Rogers, Sarah Mataway, Mackenzie Gifford, Ryley Gifford; 8 grandsons - Kevin Mataway, Joel Mataway, John Mataway, Dylan Novak, Phillip Mataway, Thomas Mataway, Andrew Mataway, James Mataway Jr.; and 5 great-grandchildren , dear brother of Carol(William) Sickenberger, Mary Jane Vermeersch and Joan(Clifford) Braathen. Visitation at A.H. Peters Funeral Home 32000 Schoenherr at Masonic (13 Mile Rd.)Warren, MI Monday 4pm until 7pm with a Rosary recited at 7pm. Funeral Mass at St. Edmund Catholic Church 14025 Twelve Mile Rd. Warren Tuesday Instate 10 am until time of Mass 10:30 am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
