Evas struggle with mental illness ended November 5th, 2018, just four days before her 22nd birthday. She was a kind, generous spirit that loved her church, animals, music, and making people laugh. Eva had many talents and was skilled in multiple fields. She was creative with a great fashion sense and passion for music. She completed a laboratory assistant program at Macomb Community College in 2016, where she was a model student and featured in the school magazine. Recently, she attended a cosmetology program at Dorsey Schools in Roseville, Michigan, where she proudly took second place in the lip-syncing competition at the school-wide talent show.
Most of all, Eva loved helping others. The highlights of her life were the times she spent on mission trips with her fellow Grosse Pointe United Methodist congregation members. Evas favorite mission trip was to Haiti, where she helped build a school and literally gave the shoes off of her feet to a stranger, flying back to the United States in her slippers. She also enjoyed doing mission work at Henderson Settlement, Hands 4 Detroit, Motown Mission, and in Beaumont, Texas for Hurricane Harvey Relief. One of Evas proudest accomplishments was being awarded the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship by the Methodist Church for living a life modeled after the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She is survived by her Mother Ann Cobau, Stepfather Thomas Layman, Father Tom Cobau, Grandmother Amber Schultz, Grandmother Arlene Cobau, Grandfather Jack Cobau , Sister Alexis Cobau, Brother Robert Cobau and fiance Elizabeth Marck, Brother Joseph Cobau, Brother John Cobau along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her very much.
Eva was passionate about raising awareness and educating others about mental health. For her 22nd birthday, she started a fundraiser to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation.
