
Fabian E. Blair passed away at Henry Ford Macomb Campus Hospital on July 21st, 2010. He was born on August 7, 1917; son of Louis and Emma (nee Genord) Blair in Hancock, Michigan. He served his country proudly in WWII in the United States Army as a Platoon Sergeant. He participated in battles in Africa and Europe earning numerous decorations and citations. After the war Fabian married Rita Poissant on August 7th, 1948 at St. Bernard Church in Detroit. The ceremony was officiated by Father Edward Fournier. Fabian retired as a bookkeeper for a local trucking company after many loyal years. Mr. Blair had many interests and hobies. He enjoyed all sports. He would watch or listen to the Detroit Tigers whenever they were playing. He golfed well into his eighties. He enjoyed going to the casinos whenever possible and would purchase his lottery tickets weekly (sometimes with success). Fabian was predeceased by Rita in 2004. He leaves behind his nieces and nephews Mary (Michael) Krotche, Debbie (Tom) Ireland, Stephen (Noel) Poissant, Christine (Leo) Klausner, Constance Poissant, and Carolyn Poissant. He was the brother in law of Ray Poissant and Ann Poissant. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 23rd from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A scripture service will be held at 7:00 pm Friday. He will lie in state on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 am at St Peter the Apostle Catholic Church 19851 Anita, Harper Woods. His cremated remains will be interred next to his beloved Rita's at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchins 1820 Mt.
