Fernand Gaboury, age 92 of Lenox, died peacefully at home on November 12, 2019. He was born in Detroit on June 11, 1927, the son of Eugene and Blandine (Page) Gaboury. Fernand was a committed man, with his heart devoted to his wife, his family and his work. From the age of 10, he worked with his father in the family business, G & G Welding & Machine Repair. When Fernand was young, he was in a band after teaching himself to play the accordion. His parents would bring his accordion to parties, as entertainment, so people could dance. Much to his dismay, Fernand would play music for others, truly preferring to dance as well. He received his diploma from Henry Ford Trade School, in tool and die making. While attending HFTS, he found himself alone in the chapel and played a little boogie woogie on the organ. Henry Ford came into the chapel and began to dance a jig. Mr. Ford then asked him if the boys needed anything. Fernand said a piano would be good, which was soon delivered to the school hall. After serving in the Navy, and returning home to marry his love, Jennie Lamoureux, on August 24, 1946, he eventually opened Gaboury & Son with his father, Eugene. Gaboury & Son became Gaboury Steel, which paved the way to a partnership with Fernands son, Dennis. Just as Fernand did with his father, Dennis worked with his dad for 53 years, until his unexpected passing in April of 2011. Fernand was a structural steel fabricator, loving to work, and doing so until the age of 91. Known as Frenchie to his friends and business associates he was respected and admired for his work ethic. Fernand was a long time member of many organizations; Macomb County Deputy Sheriff retired 1989, Michigan Fraternal Order of Police 2019 Associate Member at the Christopher M. Wouters Lodge #124, Loyal Order of the Moose Mt. Clemens Lodge 1278, Life Member of the AMVETS, The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Mt Clemens Lodge 2124, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and The American Legion. Jennie and Fernand were devoted parishioners at St Malachy Catholic Church, and they enjoyed their involvement and friendships made at the American Polish Century Club, even though they were proudly French Canadian. Together, they traveled the world to see Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, the Caribbean, and Hawaii. Most of all, they loved to spend the winters at their home in Cave Creek, AZ for over 32 years. Fernand and Jennie were married for 70 years, until his lovely bride passed away on November 18, 2016. They led a very active lifestyle; filled with travel, a shared love of dancing, entertaining with friends, and a great love of family. Fernand is dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Beloved husband of the late Jennie Gaboury. Loving father of Debra (Peri) Christensen, Dawn Gaboury, Dean (Pamela) Gaboury and the late Dennis Gaboury. Treasured grandfather of Jason (Renee) Gaboury, Holly (Matthew) Vasich, Wade (Stacey) Gaboury, Erin Christensen, Elyse Christensen, Lauren Christensen-Gauthier, Evan-Paul Christensen, Emma Gaboury, Drew Gaboury, Alec Gaboury, Reid Gaboury.
