
Frank Peter Muschong, age 93, born November 27th, 1927, passed January 6th, 2021. Loving son of the late Peter and Magdalena (Katzler) Muschong. Dear brother of the late Catherine (Policka) and Joseph Muschong. Frank was born at his parent’s home in Warren, Michigan, in the area then known as Baseline. He attended the school of the Ascension Catholic Church in Warren, where he was also an altar boy. At Lincoln High School, he excelled in track, basketball, and baseball. After graduation, he served in the US Army Air Corps and was stationed in Florida. Following his service, Frank returned to Michigan and married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Ehardt, in 1949; the next year, they had a son, Frank Junior. In 1951, Frank started working at the General Motors Technical Center and remained there as a Supervisor for thirty-five years. Kathleen passed away in 1954. At General Motors, Frank met Marion Lawler in 1961, and they married the following year. Frank and Marion were blessed with three more sons – Mark, Dan, and Brian – and enjoyed 59 wonderful years together.Frank was widely known as a loving man who enjoyed being with his family more than anything else. He was very outgoing, making numerous friends with his sweet nature, kindness, and generosity. He was a familiar figure at St. Malachy, where he served as a lector for many years. Frank’s interests and talents were wide-ranging. He loved to play the accordion, entertaining his fellow soldiers when he served in the Army. He was an accomplished oil painter as well, specializing in natural scenes and landscapes. Frank also loved sports, whether watching or playing them. He was a member of several softball leagues and was an avid golfer who loved to share the sport with his family and friends – many of whom became avid golfers themselves. Frank often watched and supported his children and grandchildren in their own sports activities over the years.He is survived by his wife, Marion (Lawler) Muschong; his children Frank and Donna (DeTomaso) Muschong, Mark Muschong, Dan and Heather (Bradley) Muschong, and Brian and Kim (Lee) Muschong; his grandchildren Ryan, Justin, Caitlin, Jack, Kayla, Luke, Eric, Allison, and Isabel; and his great-grandchildren Mila, Reid, Kai, and Elliot.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Tee of Michigan. To honor the family wishes for a private funeral service, and in consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic, friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service via live stream on Saturday, January 9th, at 11:00 am.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at a later date, to which friends and family are also invited.
