Frank was born in Detroit, Michigan. He was a former resident of Highland Park for 56 years, and had resided in Fraser, since 1991. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Anzio in the Philippines Theater. Upon returning from World War II, Frank worked as the foreman of the afternoon shift at Darin and Armstrong where he also worked as a mechanic. He was a lifetime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 324 in Detroit, Mi, and had just celebrated his 70th year. Mr. Frank Schwartz is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Anne Catherine Schwartz (Sutherland). They met on a blind date and were married on July 5, 1947 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Highland Park, Michigan. They celebrated their honeymoon in Grand Bend, Ontario where they owned a cottage for nearly 65 years. The couple resided in Highland Park together where they raised their 10 children. Frank is survived by his sister Margaret (Richard) Engle, his daughters Mary Maher (Drake), Suzanne Schley (Michael), and Therese Schwartz, and sons Conrad (Andrea), Joseph (Sharon), and Michael (Cathy). He is preceded in death by five siblings and his children Anne Marie Schwartz, Kathleen and Ronald Ciccarelli, Sally and David Lovie, and Gerard Schwartz. He is also preceded in death by his grandson, Stephen Maher. He was the proud grandfather of 22 grandchildren- Christopher (Kristin); Lisa (Stephen), Jon Michael (Shaun); Gregory, Kimberly, Adam, Jason, Elizabeth, Jeffrey, Nicole; Sarah (Kahleel), Frank, Christine, Haylee; Michael Brian (Natalie), Lauren (Jeffrey), Annie (Justin); Michael (Melissa), Matthew, Brandon, Courtney and the late Stephen Maher. He was also blessed with 23 great grandchildren- Kaitlyn, Julia, Joseph, Liliana, Isabella, Connor, Colin, Cole, Evan, Jessie, Allyssa, LeeAnn, Brody, Courtney, Tanner, Jackson, Caden, Faith, Benjamin, Samuel, Maxwell, Greyson, Lucy, and Millie. Frank loved to watch and root for the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Red Wings, and was an avid baseball player himself. He loved Strohs and Lucky Strikes, but later in life traded them in for McDonalds coffee and cheeseburgers. He could often be found tinkering on a construction project in his garage or sharing a cup of coffee with his friend, Conrad Hirsch. Visitation will be held at A.H. Peters Funeral Home in Warren on Sunday, February 24, 2019. Family visitation will begin at 12:00 pm and will open for all at 1:00pm till 8:00 pm. The rosary will be held at 7:00 pm. He will lay instate at St. Pio of Pietrelcina in Roseville on Monday, February 25, 2019 from 10:00-0:30am, and the mass of resurrection will begin at 10:30. All are welcome to join the family at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum in Southfield following the Luncheon. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to Father Solanus Casey Center in Detroit, Michigan.
