Genevieve Cassidy

Genevieve Cassidy passed away on April 12, 2014 at Sunrise on Vernier at the age of 97. She was born on December 19, 1916 in Detroit; daughter of Arthur Wilfred and Eva (nee Cloutier) St. John. "Aunt Gen" was a hard working woman. She was very independent, self sufficient, and would always be there when others were in need. She was a caring woman who loved her dogs throughout the years. She would take in stray dogs and provide them with a loving home. Genevieve loved being outside and always maintained a garden. She loved country and western music and was a Jerry Baker fan. She enjoyed being by the lake up north with family members and would share stories around the campfire. She enjoyed purchasing items at garage sales. Her infectious laugh, wonderful smile, and sparkling blue eyes will never be forgotten. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond. She is survived by her son Raymond (Elizabeth) and granddaughter Lisa. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews Beverly LaCharite, Ronald (Debbie) LaCharite, Nancy (John) Cunningham, Barbara Ward, and Jann (Dill) Thurman. She was predeceased by her siblings Howard, Louie, Helen, and Arthur. Visitation will be held for Genevieve on Tuesday, April 15 from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue, at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Deacon Richard Schubek will officiate her funeral service at 6:00 pm. Mrs. Cassidy will be interred on Wednesday at 12:00 pm at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Twp.
