Grace Linzell

Mrs. Grace Linzell, age 86, of Grosse Pointe Woods passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22nd at Sunrise of Grosse Pointe Woods. She resided there since February 2014 after suffering a stroke. Grace was the devoted wife of Arthur S. Linzell and recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. Grace was born and raised in Detroit and worked for Ingersoll Rand as an executive secretary where she met and later married Arthur Linzell. She and Art moved to Grosse Pointe Woods shortly after their marriage. Grace truly loved Grosse Pointe where she enjoyed a successful career as a realtor with Johnstone & Johnstone. She was an avid bridge player and also enjoyed playing golf and tennis. She was involved with The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, The Detroit Institute of Arts, and she was an active member of the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. Grace was known as a loyal friend and mother who was always available to lend a sympathetic ear. She will be remembered for her keen sense of fairness and her dedication to always try to do the right thing. She will be greatly missed by all of the people who's lives she touched. Grace is survived by her husband, Arthur; her brother Henry Vincent; her son Ron Linzell, Ron's wife Robin Wright Linzell and their children, Sheri and Leanna; her other son Richard Linzell; her daughter Lori Stewart, Lori's husband Ken and their children, Lindsey, Hailey and Carley. Grace's family would like to extend special thanks to all of the kind staff at Sunrise of Grosse Pointe Woods and the gentle staff at Hospice of Great Lakes Caring who continually strived to maximize the quality of Graces's life during her last few months. A memorial service will be held at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial (32 Lakeshore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms) on Thursday, September 4th at noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Michigan Humane Society.
