To Greg's Family,
I knew Greg from Ford.  He worked with my brother Jerry.  Greg and his CAE gang use to eat at this one Chinese restaurant in Dearborn and I would see them there frequently.  Always enjoyed talking with Greg.  I was honored when he came to my brother's funeral in Dayton, Ohio.

Sorry I didn't make his funeral but my prayers are with Natalie and family.

Natalie,  I am so sorry for your loss. 
Greg was a good man, a good husband and father.  Always remember the wonderful times you shared, and the great memories you now have.
Greg would want you to be brave and strong and live your life to the fullest.  You're my dear friend and I will be praying for you, Nicole and David.

I first met Greg in 1969 when we were engineering students at Wayne State. We belonged to some of the same organizations. Greg had an outstanding GPA and eventually became the president of Pi Tau Sigma (an honorary engineering fraternity).

After college we both began working at Ford Motor Company. We used to play a lot of tennis and racquetball after work with our co-workers. Sometimes we would go snow skiing or sailing on Greg’s boat. We became good friends and stood-up as best men in each other’s weddings.

Greg’s dad once told me that Greg approached life with an “all or nothing” attitude. I found this to be true. If Greg decided to do or learn something new, he was generally all-in.  Greg had an impeccable memory. At least I thought he did, and since I couldn’t remember many of the detailed memories he recounted, I just assumed he was correct.

Back in the day, Greg and I discussed many subjects. The PBS shows “This Old House” and “The Power of Myth” (a series where Bill Moyers interviewed Joseph Campbell) were frequent topics.  It seemed that Greg integrated much of Campbell’s philosophy into his own life. I recall Greg giving the eulogy at his father’s funeral. He characterized his father as one of the most spiritual men he had ever known. I believe Greg would feel honored if part of his legacy simply read: “He was a very spiritual man.”

Unfortunately, Shannon and I will be unable to attend Greg’s services, but we will keep Natalie, Nicole and David in our thoughts and prayers. Greg was a good friend, and he will be missed. 

It is sad to hear of Greg's passing.  My condolences to Natalie and your family for your loss.

I had the pleasure of being guided by Greg when I first got to Ford as a contractor back around 1984.  We shared the same cubicle and exchanged ideas regularly.  He knew everything going on at Ford and around the office and always had a good story, news item, or piece of history to share that helped everyone get through the day.

He was fond of repeating my signoff, onward and upward.  For him now it is only upward.   He will be missed.

Greg and I worked together at Ford Motor Company for many years.  One thing I remember about him is his excellent networking capability.  He seemed to know everybody and communicated with lots of folks.  The other thing about him was his phenomenal memory.  I used to call him "my memory," because if there was something I couldn't recall (it could be work related or the name of some obscure movie or movie actor), all I had to do was ask Greg and he would have the answer.  I don't know if Natalie remembers, but I attended their wedding.  Greg loved his family dearly, and I offer them my condolences.  I used to kid him that he named his son after me!  I now live in Florida and cannot attend the funeral, but will be there in spirit.

I know Greg since 1979, when I joined Ford as an Engineer.  We worked together for many years and continued to stay in touch for several decades- even post-Retirement.   Lunch get togethers with "Old Office Gang",  occasional phone calls - until approx 2018.      My last touchpoint with him  was June 2021 in email chat.    

Greg had hungry Mind and was very well read.  Amazing memory for retaining info.  Living Encyclopedia.   He had eclectic personality and was fun to engage with him on various topics- politics, religion, films, history, any and all topics.   In post-retirement years, it was particularly enjoyable to go back in memory lane with him on work episodes.  He will describe very vividly things which you had long forgotten,  but will come back to life in a long conversation with Greg.

He had picked up enough familiarity about India to randomly sprinkle his India tid bits in conversation with me.  I remember conversations on Joseph Campbell's PBS video series on Mythology.  After few lengthy chats on the video series, he gave me stack of papers related to Campbell videos, with Greg's underlines/mark ups on references of Indian Mythology.      I remember going to DFT (Detroit Film Theatre) to watch famous Indian Director Satyajit Ray film.    Few days later, he gave me Xerox copy of film reviews, info on Satyajit's awards,  Cannes nomination, Satyajit Filmography, etc.  This is before Internet era, when info not easily available.    My Hollywood  IQ was much enhanced by his association.  He knew so much about films, celebrities, trivia.    I still remember Greg reciting punchlines from famous Hollywood films--  His much repeated example:   Revered Dr T. Lawrence Shannon lines from " Night of Iguana".

Greg has left enough imprints in the landscape for us to remember him- fondly.   Behind all the light banters and provocations, I always thought of Greg as a man of deep Christian Faith and strong family values.    Prayers for his journey forward.  RIP.
