Irene Chernysh was born April 14, 1930 in Kiev, Ukraine and entered into rest November 9, 2016 in Grosse Pointe woods at the age of 86. Irene was the loving wife of the late Bohdan, and mother of Stephan (Olga) Chernysh, Mark Chernysh and the late Taras Chernysh. She was dearest grandmother of Daniel, Michael, Kelly, Anna and Stefan and great-grandmother of Weston and Esmee. Irene loved antiques and especially the United States. She was a volunteer for the Michigan Cancer Society and worked at the Discovery Shop on the hill for many years. She enjoyed entertaining family, friends, company and was a very holiday person. Visitation Monday 2:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Tuesday 10:00 am at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods 48236. Fr. Paul Bodnarchuk from St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church will be officiating. Committal Service will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit. Wake/luncheon at the Ukrainian Cultural Center, 26601 Ryan in Warren.
