

James is survived by his children Patrick (Shari) Dewan, Katherine (Joseph) Szczepkowski, Colleen (Eric) Spencer, fiancee and best friend Sylvia Donahue. Proud Papa of Kaitlyn, Kaleigh, Cora, Jadyn, Kacey, Joseph, Piper, and James. Brother to Kathleen (Dan) O’Neill, Judith (Tom) Bruening, Peter (Maura) Dewan, Patricia (Donald) Kenny. Adored uncle to many nieces and nephews. Also, survived by his special aunt and Godmother Patricia Kelly. James is preceded in death by parents Francis P and Kathleen Dewan, sister Mary Gordon, and brother Francis M Dewan.
James was extremely proud of his Irish heritage being an active member serving in many officer positions in various Irish groups including Fraternal Order of United Irishmen and Chowder Society, Gaelic League of Detroit, Knights of Equity, and Ancient Order of Hibernians Stephen Walsh Division. He was recognized for his support by being named the Grand Marshal of the Detroit St. Patrick Parade in 2015.
