Janet E. Skalski

Janet Skalski, a longtime resident of Center Line, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 in Warren at the age of 81. She was born in Detroit on January 31st, 1938 to John and Ann Grabowski. Janet was the beloved wife of the late Leo who passed away in 2006, the loving mother of Kathryn (John) Allor, and John (Cheryl Gdowski), and a dear grandmother of Bradley, Devin, and Cory Pitcher; and Tess Stade. In addition to being a loving mother and grandmother, Janet was an amazing homemaker, and worked as a pharmacy technician for 15 years. Her selflessness and care for others touched the hearts of everyone she met. She was an amazing teacher and took great care of her family. The two most important things in her life were her family and her faith. She was a longtime member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Center Line. Janet was an excellent cook and baker. Never afraid to try a new recipe, she would always have something new and delicious ready for her family to enjoy. Her homemade polish kielbasa and pierogies were second to none. She kept her family well-fed, and always had a delicious dessert to follow it up with. Janet was also an avid Detroit sports fan, always rooting for the Tigers, the Red Wings, and even the Lions, too. She never missed a game. You could usually find her at home watching the game, or the latest episode of The Young and the Restless. She loved her cat, Jingles, who could usually be found snuggled up on her lap. Janet also enjoyed spending time tending to her yard and her flowers in the garden, and solving the crossword puzzles in the weekly newspaper. After 12 years, she has been reunited with her husband Leo once again at Great Lakes National Cemetery. She was dearly loved by all of her family, and she will be greatly missed. Her spirit will live on with all of her family. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 9th, 2019 at 10:30am at St. Faustina, 14025 12 Mile Rd, Warren, MI 48088.
