Joan Boyle, age 86, of St. Clair Shores, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Detroit on September 21, 1934 to the late Frank and Florence (nee: Mannino) DeMaggio.
Joan was a long time parishioner at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Harper Woods until its closing then went to St. Basil the Great Catholic Church. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the church choir. Joan was a lover of all animals, especially dogs. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren playing sports.
She is survived by 5 loving children, Flo (Mike) Abke, Jacquelynn (Victor Galvan) Boyle, Robin (Marty) Dobson, Jayne (Bob) Reinhard, and Robert (Lynnette) Boyle; her 10 grandchildren, Sean (Erica) Dobson, Lauren (Myles) Purdy, Martin (Nicole) Dobson, Chrissy Dobson (Angel Cortez), Erica Abke, Joe Reinhard, Holly Galvan, Carly Reinhard, Jackson Galvan, and Colin Boyle. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren as well as a long time caregiver, Patty Abke.
Her beloved husband, Robert J. Boyle precedes her in death.
Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church (22851 Lexington Ave, Eastpointe MI 48021), instate will start at 9:30 AM before mass.
She will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery next to her husband, Robert.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Michigan Humane Society or Smile Train.
