

John Albert Beaupre, a beloved resident of Grosse Pointe Farms, passed away on June 4, 2024, at the age of 74. John was born into the loving family of Helen Marie and Marvin Beaupre as the fifth of six children. From an early age, John demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for engineering, earning him the title of "Mr. Fix It." His brilliance and mastery as a mechanic were well-known, and he could repair just about anything.
John's mechanical skills were honed while working alongside his father at Beaupre Service on Mack Avenue in Grosse Pointe. His passion for fixing things eventually led him to establish his own business within Buster's, located at Eight Mile and Groesbeck, where he continued to showcase his exceptional talents.
A lifelong sailor, John grew up on the shores of Lake St. Clair. There is nothing more he liked than to feel the sun on his face and the freedom of the wind in his sail. Sailing was a family activity; all the family sailed. John enjoyed sailing, especially with his siblings Marvin and Diane. He made sailors out of many of his friends too. His love for the water created cherished memories for all who sailed with him.
John had a deep appreciation for nature and was a gifted indoor gardener. He delighted in experimenting with various seed types and nurturing the plants until they bloomed. His gift for gardening was exceptional. He was always able to revive his daughter's house plants that seemed beyond saving, His pride was his avocado tree he grew just from the seed. His compassion also extended to ailing animals. Once, he had found a stray kitten, who he called Baron, curled up in the back of his truck, and he nursed him back to health, and he became his inseparable companion.
John's terrier, Penny, was also a constant source of joy for him. He had lovingly built her a special house, affectionately dubbed "Penny's House." His compassionate, kind, and gentle nature endeared him to all who knew him. He had a knack for bringing cheer to the brokenhearted with his great sense of humor, and his ability to make anyone laugh. John loved life. John was generous with his time and spirit, but he preferred a simple life of peace and tranquility.
John Albert Beaupre was magnetic leaving behind a legacy of gentleness, kindness, generosity, and a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His spirit will continue to sail on in the hearts of those who loved him.
John Albert Beaupre is predeceased in death by parents; Helen Marie and Marvin Beaupre. He is survived by his daughter, Jeanne-Marie C. Beaupre (Zac Ethridge); siblings, Marilyn Beaupre (the late Neil Severn), the late Diane Beaupre, Bonnie (Mike) Roy, Marvin (Lynne) Beaupre, and Mary (the late Chet) Yavor; mother of his daughter, Shirley Nagel; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Mass will be held for John on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 10AM, with an Instate starting at 9:30AM, at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church, 157 Lake Shore Road, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236.
