In his youth, John was a gifted athlete who played all sports. After graduating from St. Paul High School he attended the University of Detroit before he was drafted into the United States Army. He fought on the front lines during the Korean War. After serving his country, he returned home and married Patricia Callahan and was a wonderful, loving father to his five daughters.
He enjoyed a lengthy career at Chrysler as Executive Manager of Fleet Sales, retiring at the age of 60. Their travel adventures began in Alaska, led them to kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland, and even to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. For 25 years they spent winters in Vero Beach, FL loving the sunshine of the “Gold Coast.” He was an avid golfer, loved all sports especially the Red Wings and Tigers, but his favorite time spent was shared with family and friends.
John is survived by his wife of over 67 years, Patricia (nee: Callahan) Bingham; his five daughters, Diane Druzinski (Gerald) of Shelby, Karen Brown of Medford, NJ, Patricia Perry (Edward) of Grosse Pointe Woods, Colleen Vitale (Angelo) of Northville, and Barbara Klochko (Peter) of South Lyon; his eleven grandchildren, Michael, Julie, Scott, Garrett, Jessica, Eddie, Sarah, Andrew, Kaitlyn, Megan, and Emily. John is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
