John "Woody" Woodson, age 72 of Warren, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at MediLodge of Sterling Heights. He was born in Charles Town, West Virginia on Tuesday, September 2, 1941; the son of Walter Woodson and Madelyn Link. Following high school, Woody took several trade classes specializing in mechanics and maintenance which prepared him for his service in the United States Air Force. He served his country honorably from October of 1959 until his release from the reserves in October of 1965. Upon being discharged from the military, Woody began a long and devoted career as a Tinsmith with General Motors for 46 years. His career was one of passion as he greatly appreciated cars and motorcycles. He could be found washing and detailing his own vehicles inside and out daily. Woody also had a love of animals. He nurtured strays and was always feeding the neighborhood cats, dogs and birdlife. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling; particularly to warmer climates. Woody's ultimate passion, though, was for boating. He spent many, many hours on his boat with his family and friends. Beloved husband of Mary for 27 years. Loving father of John (Julie). Adoring grandfather of Maddi and Griff. Treasured step-son of Carolyn. Dear brother of Allan (Fran), Judy (Greg), Diane (John), and Sandy (Meghan).
