John C. Wright

John C. (Jack) Wright, 89, of Grosse Pointe Woods passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Sunrise of Bloomfield Hills. Jack was born January 29, 1925 to Howard and Carrie (Metzger) Wright in Detroit. He attended St. Rose School in Detroit. He served during WWII as a Sergeant in the Army as a clerk in a medical unit serving in the Pacific Theatre primarily in the Philippines. He married Joan Wigington on February 2, 1952. He worked for Chrysler Corporation until his retirement. The cottage on Long Lake was his favorite place and he shared countless memories with his family and the extended family, swimming, skiing, boating, playing cards, manning the grill, and enjoying watching his children, all of their friends, and later his grandchildren enjoying themselves on the lake. Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Joan, his parents, his brothers George Wesley Wright and Howard Wright, Jr. He is survived by his special friend Jeri Toepp who provided love and support; his children Lawrence (May) Wright, Dan (Stella Salazar) Wright, Joe (Judy) Wright, Tim Wright, and Christine (Ken) Delaney; his grandchildren Carrie (Kurt Krug) Wright, Jeff (Terrie Doris) Wright, Jonnalyn (Brittain) Manginelli, Andre (Maria Andrea) Wright, Danielle and David Wright, Sean and Jason Delaney and great grand-children Maxx, Rocco, Adriana and Briella Lynn. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the University of Michigan Department of Neurology for Alzheimer's Research or the Tibbits Opera House, Coldwater, MI. Visitation Wednesday 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm and Thursday 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm with rosary at 7:00 pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods 48236. Funeral at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 6021 Whittier, Detroit 48224; instate Friday 8:30 am until time of mass 9:00 am. Father Duane Novelly will be officiating. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
