We learned today that Joe had died in early December. How sad it must have been for you, Ann, to get a Christmas card from us addressed to both of you! Joe impressed us; he was steadfast in his love for his family, a devoted husband and father. We send all of you our warmest affection and will continue our prayers during your time of grief. Shortly before Thanksgiving, Joe said â€œevery day is Thanksgivingâ€. It was remarkable that Joe could have that kind of attitude considering what he was going through. Joe's kindness and grace will always be an inspiration to me. I pray that God will give Anne and the rest of Joe's family comfort and peace in the days ahead. God bless Joe, and God bless us all.

I just found out about Joe's death after having read the Notre Dame Alumni newsletter. I had the good fortune of having been one of four of Joe's roommates in college at The University of Michigan his senior year. Regarding the comments on his friendly and accepting personality and positive outlook on life, I can easily verify that those were present during the year I got to know him back then. And I never saw a harder worker. He worked a part-time job at a grocery store (as I recall) while taking a full schedule in school. I also was impressed by his ability to write an entire English composition at the typewriter (no word processors then) straight out of his mind with no notes and rare corrections. As has been true with many of my college friends, I lost touch with Joe after he graduated, but I never forgot him. The picture in his obituary is a great one, and captures the smile I fondly remember so well. I am so very sorry to hear of his death.

Ann-Marie, Joe worked for me at Detroit Assembly. He was our first hire into Salary around 1975. My boss told me he hired a guy name Joe Sepos who worked on engine set and I said who? So I went down to engine set to met Joe for the first time. Here is this "little" guy setting engines into the chassis that usually has these big burley guy's. Joe was my best employee over the 18 yrs I worked there. All fond memories. I rememeber one conversation we had were I told Joe I was looking to buy a house and told me he owned his and it was paid for. I was astounded. I rememeber him brown bagging his lunch(tunafish), pleasant demeanor and the part I played in his developement is special to me. I emailed Joe during the past few months and asked to visit him. He asked to wait until he got better, that the chemo took all the stregth out of him. I truely enjoyed my time spent with Joe at Detroit Assembly. I worked with Joe for a few years at General Motors and really enjoyed his personality! When this were overwelming he always put this into perspective. I will miss Joe!!

Joe and I graduated from ND High and UM together. You were a great guy with a great smile and a lot of integrity. It was cool to visit your folks and talk politics and the old country. Remember when you gave up your room & board scholarship because you couldn't stand the party atmosphere? And you may have been even cheaper than me! But now I understand; you were a man of character. I worked with Joe at General Motors when I was first out of school. I enjoyed many a lunch with Joe in the cafeteria. You will be missed Joe.

Anne & family, I can't imagine how this will affect all of you. I hope you can rely on one another to keep all of your wonderful memories alive and have a shoulder to cry on when you need it. Dear Anne and Family: I am so truly sorry for the loss of Joe. Life and family mattered so much to him. He truly had many personal and professional gifts, but his greatest pride was his children and wife, Anne. This was so obvious when I would see all of you at family gatherings. I was a classmate of Joe's. We were casual acquaintances, but I remember he was always the nicest guy to talk to. Never a disparaging word or bad attitude about anything. He always saw the glass as being half full, never half empty. My condolences.

I know that I went to Joe's house at least twice as a junior when I was struggling with math and he was in my class. He was helpful, and his mother was very kind to me. They were pleasant times. My prayers today will be exclusively for the family.
