Joseph "JP" Paul Simon Jr.

Joseph Paul (J.P.) attended St Paul’s Elementary School, graduated from Grosse Pointe North in 2000. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago’s John Marshall Law School supplemented by post degree coursework in Corporate Finance and Financial Accounting at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Additionally, he studied International Law in Nice, France.

J.P. served the Optio Law family of companies as its Founder, Chairman, and CIO. He was the founding partner of Americus Capital in 2009 which led him to his current ownership in the software company BookedOut. During his career he was private counsel to many private and public companies.

During his young life his passion was hockey from the age of 6 to present. He loved hockey and went on to play for the University of Wisconsin. His second passion was fly fishing from every shore he could, all over the United States including overseas. He loved to travel with his golf clubs and fly fishing rod. His special trips were flying to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Montana, and Belize in remote areas to fish. While in Florida during winters he would drop the golf clubs and fish all the ponds- anywhere he went, the fly fishing rod went.

He was a very loving father to his beautiful daughters and gave them his full attention. He enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica with his girls. They adored him. He was compassionate, funny, generous, thoughtful and very intelligent.

JP is predeceased by his best friend, Uncle Jeff Simon. JP is survived by his two loving daughters, Colette (Coco) 8 years and Casey 6 years and his loving parents Joseph and Karen, as well as, the mother of his children, Blair Simon. In addition, he is survived by many loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 3pm until 8pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home located at 20705 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 10:00am, with an instate starting at 9:30am at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church located at 157 Lakeshore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236
